The Victorian chairs

People assume that the Queen sat on either one of these chairs, but that might not be true, because, instead of it being a chair that you sit on every day it’s a chair that’s carefully carved with fine oak wood in 1854, nearly 200 years ago! However, the king is thought to have sat on one of them, but you can go visit and see for yourself!

The engravings on the chairs,

The animals on the chairs, such as the dove and eagle are signs of beauty and freedom, they also show signs of high priority and control over any peasant.

How they were made.

These chairs were made in Austria, and are decorated with amazing detail. Each one is a bit different, designed as a pair for the royal couple. They’re at the bottom left of the church, close to where the war memorial is.

If you look closely, you can see all of the tiny details, you can still see every detail despite them being made over 150 years ago!
